So here’s a funny story
Important detail: I am a HUGE fan of Greg Garcia and two of his Fox sitcoms: My Name Is Earl and Raising Hope.
A few months ago, I was at the cleverly hidden comic book store in Andersonville, Chicago, on Clark street. The guy behind the counter looked exactly like little-known, not-really-famous-but-should-be actor, Lucas Neff. I was so excited, having just finished re-watching the first season of Raising Hope, the show that Lucas Neff is the star of. I told him that he was identical to the actor, insisted that he knew him, or was related to him, I even went as far as to search Lucas Neff on my phone and show this guy pictures. He laughed.
Today, I was working on a piece about my obsession with decidedly less-famous actors, and I searched Lucas Neff to make sure I was getting the spelling right for my piece. There is almost nothing on his Wikipedia page except that he is from Chicago, he went to high school and college in Chicago. I realize now that the Lucas Neff lookalike giving me comic advice in Alley Cat Comics was most likely the real Lucas Neff. That’s what I get for watching too much television.
